Pre-clinical group has partnered with an expert licensed laboratory, specializing in performing animal studies requiring in-vitro or in-vivo radioactive tests for medical device or drug applications.
The professional team consists of experts in radiopharmacy, with veterinarians, physicists, and nuclear medicine technicians.
Invivo Radioactive studies
The facility provides a registered state of the art isotope animal house, equipped with dose calibrators, gamma & beta racks, whole body and SPECT camera, ultrasonography, x-ray and access to nano SPECT/CT, CT and MRI Radiopharmaceuticals usually used are:
99mTechnetium labeled molecules for diagnostic purposes, e.g.: 99mTc MDP for bone scintigraphy, or 99mTc MIBI for heart perfusion studies.
Positron emitting radiopharmaceuticals e.g.: (18FDG and 14C-methyonin) for positron emission tomography (PET) examinations .
153Samariummal and 177Lutecium labelled phophonates (153Sm and 177Lu EDTMP) for bone metastases palliation
131J-iodine for thyroid diseases.
90Yttrium-colloids for radiosynovectomy
Experimental animal species are: mice, rats, rabbits, beagle dogs, minipigs, pigs, sheep and goats.
The site include animal facility which has a fully equipped surgical operating suite for performance of surgical procedures such as tissue/organ sampling, catheterization procedures, blood vessel and intestinal ligations and intra-tumor treatments
In-vitro radioactive tests
In vitro activities consist of radiolabelling different carrier molecules with gamma, beta, positron and alpha emitting nuclides, ITLC and radio-HPLC for QC of labeled materials, stability studies of labeled ligands, in vitro (tumor) cell binding assays as well as micronucleus assay, chromosome aberration studies in human, mice, and canine lymphocytes
